A motor catamaran can be much more efficient, and hence more environmentally friendly, than a monohull of about the same length and beam. The MC30 has convincingly demonstrated this basic fact. We start new Project, called E-MC 30, which included idea to convert MC 30 ( please visit or web site www.motorcat.com ) into electric only propulsion with generator when batteries are low. We found MC 30 to be ideal platform for such propulsion i.e. large roof for solar ,light weight (2600 lbs if made in epoxy-empty ) and batteries ( 16 AGM units of 100 Amp each , will lower CG even further), low wave resistance up to 10 knots ,etc.
An electric boat is any boat primarily propelled by an electric motor. However, there is a broad range of capabilities within that definition. Our goal is to create practical electric hybrid using electric O/B when needed and supplement the batteries by generator when they low.
